Hobart Indiana House
It’s Official, We’ve finally sold our house in Indiana. It was a short sale, The Bank was a TOTAL PITA. (Pain in the Ass) But it’s done. Gone, Finished, History. Huge weight off of my mind for sure.

Mom had come down for the holidays and to visit, as well as soak up the good weather of winter in south Texas. We Just took her to the airport and she’s not looking forward to the cold weather of the northwest Indiana Chicago Area.
Work is good. Rackspace is a really good place to work.. they don’t just say that. Forbes says it, and so do I. I have never worked for a place where I have no interest in keeping my options open.. or keeping my eye on the Job boards. I’ve actually drank the Kool-aid and am loving my Job.
We took Jazz to an Internal medicine Vet to look at his seizure records and dosage etc, due to his seizures becoming more frequent. We’re upping the dosage of Zonsimide and the potassium bromide. Hopefully This will have a good affect.
We have moved to a new (to us) house in San Antonio. It’s smaller, only 2 bedrooms and we’re going to have to get rid of even More stuff but With Just nana, I and the Critters we don’t really need more room.
..
More Later..

I have been using IRSSI and it’s proxy feature to keep a running connection to freenode. While I play road warrior with the laptop. With a bit of down time over the holidays I came across ZNC. While not a new project it is new to me. I found that it’s features set and project focus is what I was trying to have IRSSI do for me. This IRC bouncer they call it is quite mature now and has many module for expansion.. check it out at http://wiki.znc.in/ZNC

Just in time for VMworld, VMware is about to join the OpenStack Foundation as a Gold member, along with Intel and NEC, according to a post on the OpenStack Foundation Wiki. The applications for membership are on the agenda of the August 28 OpenStack Foundation meeting.
A year ago, an VMware-OpenStack hookup would have been seen as unlikely. When Rackspace and NASA launched the OpenStack Project more than two years ago, it was seen as a competitive response to VMware’s server virtualization dominance inside company data centers and to Amazon heft in public cloud computing. Many tech companies including but not limited to Rackspace, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Citrix, Red Hat and Microsoft saw VMware as a threat and were bound and determined to keep the company from extending its virtualization lock into the cloud.
There is a Forbes Aricle that touts stats about the gallup poll that finds a bunch of people think the tea is doing a good Job
They polled some 1100 people (how many of them have had to go through TSA in Chicago or LA ???? )
San Antonnio wasn’t bad and I got through pretty quickly.. but overall what are they preventing? I know they’re causing frustration with general passengers
This has made it to Slashdot as well
We have a floating laminate floor in the house in San Antonio, and if you don’t already know they can resonate sound. The sound of toe nails on this floor is how Sydney our youngest, who can’t seem to walk anywhere she trots, got the nick name “TickTick”.
Thursday Morning about 2am Jazziril (jazzy) our 3 year old Australian Shepherd woke us with frantic running in place while laying on his side. We though it was an intense dream at first, but with more light and less fog in the head from being startled awake, we learned he was having a seizure. It lasted under 2 minuets. Nana and I both were understandably scared for him.
We’ve done a bunch of reading on the subject now. We’ve found that some bloodlines of Aussys have a genetic disposition toward seizures. We’ve got a call in to the Breeder Denise Hillman, to ask if she knows of any other of Jazz’s siblings.
The Other possibility is that Jazz had just received a 3 year rabies vaccination in the past 3 days.. Reading on this has show that seizures are in the list of side effects of rabies vaccinations.

UPDATE:
Jazzy Last nite almost 30 days to the day has had a second seizure. We’re attempting to find external stimulus that may have caused this, but I’m thinking Genetics are the main factor.
Hi,
For those who haven’t heard Rackspace offered me a position as a Linux engineer II. Located at their San Antonio Tx Location. They made a great offer and paid to relocate us to Texas. Pack and Ship, as well as ship one of the Vehicles.
We made it down to Texas Tuesday the 17th, I would recommend Flying, 1200 Miles in an explorer with my Wife, Samara (tabby), Jazziril and Sydney (peanut) our Australian shepherds. Plus all of our (movers won’t ship) stuff and cloths and provisions for a week or so. Not the ”Best trip ever Dad” we romanticized. Especially since we don’t usually travel.
We found a house in Converse Tx about 8 miles from my new Gig. A great improvement to my previous 43 mile 1.2 hour commute to Downtown Chicago. We signed a 1 year lease and since we know no one here, if it’s not the best of places, we’ll have an out.
My sister in law seems to be more excited about our move than we are. My Brother is taking on all the work of supervision the pack, Load, and prepping the house for sale back in Indiana, I can’t thank him enough.
All of the critters seem to be adjusting well to the new house. Jazz and Sydney are fine where ever we are.. and Samara is coming out and investigating the place..
First Day at Rackspace is Jan 30 and I’m really looking forward to the challenge of the new Job and the focus on Linux administration and development. And the Diet Pepsi on Tap (eek).
I’ll be updating as time passes. for now.. Cya!
